HUDSON, DARCIE LEE
It is with great sadness that
the family of Darcie Hudson
announces her passing on March 21, 2012 at the age of
61 after a courageous battle
with brain cancer.
She is survived by her
daughter, Dana Hudson of
Kelowna and son, Jerrod
Hudson of Vancouver; her
mother Helen Hrischuk of
Kelowna; sisters Louise Norman of Kelowna and Cheryl (Rick) Quinton of Coquitlam; former spouse Dean Hudson of Grindrod, B.C.; several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her father, Alex Hrischuk in 1993.
Darcie was born Feb. 6, 1951, enjoyed a childhood in
Kelowna and moved with the family in 1965 to Lakeview Heights (West Kelowna) to a property amongst orchards. She graduated with honours from George Pringle
Secondary School in Westbank, attended University of
Victoria, and was a primary school teacher for two years
in Parksville before returning to Kelowna to teach for 34 years. She taught at Black Mountain Elementary School and many years at Glenmore Elementary School where
she retired in June 2011.
Darcie was loved by all who were fortunate to know her. Her quick smile, sense of humour, wit, and loving heart was a joy to family, friends, co-workers and students. She was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, a loving devoted
mother, sister, daughter, and aunt. She enjoyed children – people of all ages, road trips for sports events, bingo, Las Vegas, music, lively celebrations and conversation as well as quiet pursuits including movies, novels, baking, arts & crafts, sewing, needlepoint, and walks at night with her dog, Ziggy. May she meet departed ones for many more walks in heavenly starlight. We will miss her.
The family wishes to thank all friends and relatives who sat by Darcie’s side during her illness. Many thanks to Darcie’s doctors, nurses and all the staff at Hospice House for
helping to comfort her in these final months.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Springfield Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012.
