Bowden, David It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father, David Bowden on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at the age of 81. David will be sadly missed by his two sons; John and his wife Denise and their children Alicia and Tanner of Saskatoon SK, and Graeme and his wife Barbie and their children Evan and Colin, of Sherwood Park AB, as well as his dear friend and companion, Evelyn Fells. He was predeceased by Marnie, his wife of 52 years, in 2005.
David was born in Hedley in 1929 and grew up in the Silmilkameen valley working with his dad on a Ranch near Keremeos. He attended university at UBC, and obtained his PHD in Animal Husbandry from the University of Oregon in 1961. He worked with the federal government for 39 years where he was fortunate to work in places such as Iran, England and Pakistan. In 1992 he began the next chapter of his life, retiring to Kelowna, where he was a dedicated volunteer to various societies and was especially passionate about Reach Out Youth Counseling. He also joined organizations such as Probus and Learning In Retirement.
Known for his love of life and people, he touched the lives of all who knew him with his generous spirit, compassion and thoughtfulness. David’s life passion was helping people. David thoroughly enjoyed his outdoor gardening and continued to golf and bowl often.
Funeral Ceremony will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road Kelowna, BC.
