David William Caldwell passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the age of 84, at Kelowna Hospice House in Kelowna, BC, after his brief battle with an aggressive brain tumor.
David is survived by his two daughters and son, Yvonne Van Swieten (Richard) of Victoria, BC, and Jane Newns and Jeff Caldwell of Georgetown, ON; six grandchildren, Nicole Van Swieten, Michael Van Swieten (Kaitlin), Drew Newns, Jarod Newns, Zoe Caldwell, and Matthew Caldwell; and two great- grandchildren, Kamryn Kirkpatrick, and Asher Van Swieten. David will now be reunited with his late wife Irene "Sally", who passed away in 2008.
He had a very good and full life, including his time in the British Merchant Navy (1954 - 1957), and his coming to Canada from England with his wife Sally. David and Sally settled in Toronto, ON in 1957, there his first, and only, job was with Massey Ferguson. He worked there for 30 years until he retired at the early age of 50.
He and Sally enjoyed many years of retirement traveling across Canada and the states, in their 5th Wheel Trailer; they spent most of their winters in Yuma Arizona. They enjoyed fishing, golfing, dancing, playing darts, and little gambling adventures.
They even enjoyed a few Ocean Cruises in the later years. Finally, they bought a place in Kelowna, BC, their final resting place.
A private gathering will be held later this fall. The family would like to thank all the staff for their compassionate care given to our father, during his end of life stay, that he received at the Kelowna Hospice House Facility.

If you would like to give a gift of memory for David, donations may be given to KGH Foundation, Central Okanagan, Hospice House, www.hospicehousekelowna.com or the Canadian Cancer Society, www.cancer.ca.
