DOROTHY LONGACRE

DOROTHY Dianne of Kelowna, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 18th, 2008 at the age of 63 years. Survived by her beloved husband of 45 years Donald, loving mother of Donny and also her cherished granddaughters Chelsie and Carlie. Stepson: Les (Carla) Longacre. Dorothy was the youngest of seven girls born to Ada and Bill Foster. She is also survived by two sisters Leen LaRue of Kelowna and Nora Watters of Calgary, brothers Tim and Larry and sisters Sandy and Carol. Predeceased by sisters Peggy Harbarenko, Willis Corbett, Gladys Smith and Violet Bass. Dorothy will also be loving remembered and sadly missed by all the Longacre brothers , sisters, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was one of a handful of people who started the Kelowna Food Bank in the basement of the United Church on Bernard Ave. She dedicated 13 years of service to this organization and was chairman for 9 years. Dorothy was instrumental in building it up to what it is today. A Celebration of Dorothy’s Life will be held on Friday, February 22nd, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. from the Chapel of First Memorial Funeral Services, 1211 Sutherland Ave. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations maybe made to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior in memory of Dorothy.
