Dorothy Woollard February 8, 1924 – July 25, 2016

Born to Albert and Minnie Cunnington in Inglewood California. Dorothy lost her battle with Scleroderma and Cancer on July 25 2016. Dorothy lived each moment of her life fully. She was golfing until the age of 90 and leading her senior’s group until last year, but over the last year her quality of life decreased.  She achieved her goal of living independently until almost the end of her life. Dorothy was predeceased by the love of her life, husband of 50 years, and best friend, Clyde. They were married on September 1, 1947.Dorothy was the youngest of 5 sisters: Eileen, Gwen, Lorna and Bernice. Dorothy leaves her sons Doug (Sheila) and Glenn (Gayle) and grandsons Nathan and Stephen (Jessica). The last of the Cunnington sisters, Dorothy was much loved by her nieces and nephews. Dorothy and Clyde served the United Church all their lives. Some of her achievements were CGIT leader and mentor; Pres. of BC UCW; manager presbytery resource centre; establishing and leading a seniors’ group; cancer agency volunteer; and life member of Naramata Centre Society. She was respected and loved by all who knew her. Her persistence, stamina, faithfulness and willingness to speak her mind made her a determined advocate for those in need, concerned about social justice and always willing to help others. She was fiercely independent and sometimes struggled to accept help herself. Generous with her charitable donations, Dorothy had very little material wealth but she had rich friendships and gave of herself to all. Thank you to all her friends and the medical staff who helped in her time of need.
