It is with a heavy heart that the family of Duane Gordon Long announces this passing after fighting cancer for many years. On July 8, 2021, his loving wife Cecilia Long was with him when he peacefully took his last breath.
Duane will be forever remember by his daughter Lindsay Leech, her husband Colin and their two Children Marley and Dax. He will be greatly missed by his sister Gayle Long, brother Wendell Long, Step-Sister Lori (Phil) Hanna, Brothers-In-Law Robert (Helen) Holst, Martin (Gloria) Holst, Sisters-In-Law Eliza (Bill) Shannahan, Hope (Kevin) Winfield and 16 Nieces and Nephews and all of his extend family and dear friends.
Duane was predeceased by his father Ivan, Mother Alice, Step-Mother Eva, Brother Warren and Sister Joanne.
Duane enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces in 1974 and retired in 1995 after 21 year of service. He did everything from working in warehouses to security at an Edmonton Casino. In 2000 he found himself with Transport Canada and was a dangerous goods inspector for 15 years. He retired in 2015, and moved from his farm in Gainford, Alberta with his wife Cecilia (CC), to Kelowna to be closer to his mother Eva. Duane was not one to sit still, so he decided to drive a school bus. He did this for a short period and finally really retired in 2019.
