Born in East Prussia on Nov. 15, 1932, Ecki passed away suddenly on May 18, 2008 in Kelowna, B.C., leaving to mourn his passing his wife, Ursula, his son Ronald (Sherry), daughter Jeanette (Allan) Coyle, granddaughter LaRae (Ryan) Fetch and great granddaughter Aspen Fetch. After being forced to flee his homeland in 1947 he settled in Berlin where he met the love of his life Ursula. Immigrating to Canada from Germany in 1957, Ecki enjoyed a long and rewarding career as an electrician at the Goodyear tire factory and the joy of raising a close and loving family in Medicine Hat before retiring to Kelowna. There he developed a strong network of friends and served as a valued member and supporter of the Kelowna Liedertafel Society. He leaves a legacy of love and friendship that we hope he will be able to watch grow and blossom from the next plane. Memorial services will be held at the Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC on Saturday, May 24th at 1:00 pm.
