CAMPBELL, Editha Mary (Nee Hatchell)
Was born in Saskatoon, SK, and passed away in her 92nd year at The Village At Mill Creek Nursing Home, Kelowna, BC on September 9, 2009. Forever in the hearts of her husband of 66 years, Colin, and their 6 children: Sheila (John) of Kelowna, Cynthia (Skip) of ON, Colin
(Penny-deceased) of BC, Elizabeth (Dave) of ON, Meredith (Ted) of AB, and Owen (Carrie) of NS. Survived by her sister,
Eileen, and by her eight grandchildren, Michael, Ian, Lee, Kyle, Neal, Gillian, Sean, Courtney and seven great grandchildren. Editha graduated from Normal School in Saskatoon in 1936, starting her teaching career on the
prairies. As an exchange teacher to Glace Bay, NS, Editha met Colin and they married in Montreal in 1943. Family was very important to Editha and she did extensive investigation into the genealogies of both families. Editha was a founding member of the first chapter of TOPS in Kelowna in 1970 and was a devoted member of KOPS well into her 80’s. For a great many years her favourite hobby was collecting, making and repairing countless dolls and teddy bears with many of them finding their way to needy children via the local firefighters at Christmas. Cremation has taken place at the Springfield Funeral Home, Kelowna.
There will be a small memorial service, for those who would like to attend, at The Village At Mill Creek, 1459 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna, BC. on Tuesday, September 15, at 6:30 pm. The family would appreciate donations to the
Canadian Cancer Society, 1633 Pandosy Street, Kelowna, BC V1Y 1P6 or to obesity research in memory of our mother. No flowers please. The family would like to
extend our heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Village At Mill Creek for all their professional and caring attention.
