Edward (Ted) George RUNNALLS

(1938-2008) Pre-deceased by his father Ferres Wilfred in 1964; survived by his mother Margaret Heatley ( Runnalls); his wife France Grenier; brother Robert (Bob) Runnalls (Mary); daughters Romany and Rhonda (Jerrey) Thurston and son Rodney; grandson Connor; granddaughters Ainsley and Ashley Thurston; granddog Shakespeare and Thompson (Theo). Also survived by Mary Anne Runnalls, Neeva Gayle and John Hix; nieces Kendra Skubiak and Karen Chamberlain (Zachary and Nichole); step children Josiane and Maxim Gordon; many aunts, uncles cousins and great friends. Early April 28th, the “Man of the Mountain” passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving mother. Stoic and proud, Ted loosened his grip and let go of his wonderful full life here. He will be deeply missed by his wife and travel partner, France Grenier who traveled to the ends of the earth with him in their years together. Their greatest joy was time spent golfing and camping. Ted found beauty in the lakes, skies and mountains surrounding the Okanagan and made his home in Kelowna in 1964. He became an avid water skier and organizer of the Kelowna Regatta. His spirit for adventure took him away in his float plane to remote lakes and fishing areas with his “Buddy”- son Rodney, his brother Bob or his neighbor Mike. He loved all that the Okanagan and B.C. had to offer and wanted to share his vision with future generations. He is a pioneer of Kelowna’s Westside and his children will proudly carry on his legacy. His grandson Connor will remember golfing and playing chess, while his granddaughters will treasure swimming off the boat with “Dido”. Ted leaves behind many good friends and business associates throughout the Okanagan. All who knew of his generosity and love of life will hold him in their hearts. There will be a private gathering at Ted and France’s home on Saturday May 3rd to celebrate his life. The family wishes to thank the staff at Douglas Fir Palliative Unit for their special care and attention in Ted’s final days. In lieu of flowers and a service, the family requests that donations be made to the Kelowna Hospital Foundation and Ducks Unlimited.
