Evelyn Striemer passed away peacefully on December 20, 2017.
She was born in Naicam, Sask., on June 22, 1927 to Oscar and Lydia Johnson. She grew up on the family farm. She was the eldest of six children.
Evelyn is survived by her loving husband Leonard Striemer of 41 years, one sister Grace Johnson of Desert Falls, CA., and two brothers Wilbur (Jean) Johnson of Calgary, AB., and Dennis (Violette) Johnson of Sidney, BC., and sister in law Donna Johnson of Calgary, and 3 nieces and 4 nephews.
Evelyn was predeceased by her father Oscar Johnson in 1976, her mother Lydia Johnson in 1996, her niece Carolyn Johnson in 1990, her brother Ron Johnson in 2015 and brother Lloyd Johnson in 2017.
Evelyn graduated from high school in 1945 in Naicam, Sk., and university later in Saskatoon and Manitoba . She chose teaching as her career. She taught in Sask., and MB.
In 1975 Evelyn met her "Prince Charming", Len Striemer. They were married in 1976 at the Calvary Temple, Winnipeg, by Rev.H.H. Barber. They made their home in Winnipeg until 1991 when they decided to move west, to Kelowna, BC.
They became members of Evangel Church in 1991 and have been blessed by their inspiring teachings. Evelyn and Len were active in volunteering and in several church activities. They have enjoyed the fellowship of many good friends. And to have been blessed to live in Gordon Park Village since 2009. These residents have become family.
A Memorial Service will be held for Evelyn on January 5, a 1: 30 pm at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC.
