It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Franc Kosec. His short battle with cancer ended peacefully at home with Marjeta, his wife of 50 years, by his side. He is predeceased by his father Janez, mother Rozalija, and 4 brothers Janez, Stanko, Joze, and Tone. He will be remembered by Marjeta and their son Rob (Becky), daughter Laurie (Jason), grandchildren Jenica, Tessa, Noah, Russell, and Isaak, sisters Marija (Tony deceased), Agnes (Drago), and Rezi (Janez), and the many loving nephews, nieces, relatives, and companions in Slovenija and Canada.
Franc was born on July 22, 1941 in Vel. Brusnice, Slovenija and left the country as a young man on foot where he eventually found work in France. He returned briefly to marry Marjeta and they soon immigrated in 1969 with the dream of a new life in Canada. He enjoyed living in the Okanagan with his family, making wine, and working as one of Kelowna's finest "steel doctors" as a proprietor of Franc's Springs and Welding. Franc and Marjeta enjoyed many special years at Canim Lake along with their many travels throughout B.C., California, and Arizona. Franc's love of nature and one of a kind character will forever be remembered by many.
We would like to thank Dr. Naude, Dr. Topic, the Kelowna Cancer Clinic, and the great palliative care team for their dedication and providing him with comfort and dignity towards the end of his journey.
