We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our loved one, Georgina Jeanette O’Rourke (nee Youngberg). “Gina” went to be with the Lord on June 11, 2010. Predeceased by her parents Jeanette (Vallee) and Walter Youngberg. Married 44 years to the love of her life and best friend Bruce. Along with her husband she leaves behind three children Deanna (Eddie) O’Rourke of Alabama, Kynan (Kelly) O’Rourke of West Kelowna, Sean O’Rourke of Calgary, Gina was a generous and caring Grandma to Courtney, Jeremy, Jessica, Janelle, Joshua, Bret, Brooklyn, Conner, Zachery, Keira. Their young hearts are broken, but are comforted by years of wonderful memories, brothers Don (Sherene) Youngberg of Westbank, Gloria (Tom) Wolters of Raymond, AB, niece Brytann (Hank) of Salmon Arm, nephews Morgan (Michelle) Youngberg of West Kelowna, Tory (Phoebe) Ewashen of LeDuc, AB. A loving aunt to Gina, Bertha (Eddie) Herzog of Kelowna, numerous cousins and friends will sadly miss her. An animal lover as we all knew her to be-she leaves behind three spoiled, adored pets-Bailey, Meiko, and Smokey. Gina was born on October 8, 1946 in Kelowna, BC at KGH. She graduated from George Pringle Secondary. Gina and Bruce were married in Cour d’Alene, Idaho. Along with raising her own children, Gina opened up her home to dozens of children doing daycare in the early years. Currently sponsoring children in Africa-Meseeret Tamiru and Serkalem Tesfaye. Gina later became the business rep for Local 1370, Carpenters Union. She devoted 35 years to the men and women of the local. Gina was passionate about her work, working long hours to help employ, train, even house (too many to mention). She will be remembered for always doing for others. She loved her family, her work and life. Her family will remember her for all the love she shared with them in good times and in bad. Gina was a woman of great strength, she was compassionate and wise. Her family loved her like no other. We deeply miss her and will always love her. We weren’t ready for you to leave us, but knew we had to say goodbye. Gone to be among the angels, forever in our hearts we will see you again. Love your family xoxo. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 19th at 11:00 am at Trinity Baptist Church, 1905 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Baptist Church c/o Missionary Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting, 250-860-7077.
