MCIVER, GERTRUDE “TRUDY”
Trudy McIver passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at
the age of 94. She is survived by her loving family, son Bryan, daughter Pat (Dave), grandchildren Shaun (Vanessa), Kevin (Ashley), Great Granddaughters Mikayla, Alivia and Sophie; Carol and Sister-In-Law Pat Arcand.
She was predeceased by her son David, husband Bernard “Barry”, mother Sarah Turney, father Ernest Turney and brothers Kelly, Bob, Sam, Harry and Bill Turney.
Trudy was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba. She married Barry in Winnipeg in 1944. They settled in Kelowna in 1946.
Barry worked at the Simpson Sawmill and Trudy worked
at the local packing house.
Trudy was a caregiver most of her life looking after her handicapped son David who was a Quadriplegic as a result of a car accident when he was 19 years old.
Trudy loved to socialize and dance. Round dancing, Square dancing, line dancing - she did it all. She loved to sew and made clothes for herself and her children. She used her
talent to design and sew all her square dance dresses.
Family was important to her. And family always came first. She was generous and loving to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved life. Trudy greeted each day with a smile and lots of laughter. She was quick to make new friends and loved and cared for her old friends deeply. She will be missed by many.
There will be a Celebration of Life for Trudy on Saturdy, June 4th at 2 pm in the Tea Room at First Memorial on
1211 Sutherland Ave, Kelowna.
