Joe Naito passed away peacefully on December 7, 2010 at the age of 77 in Kelowna. Born in Kelowna, BC, May 26, 1933, Joe attended public schools in Kelowna through to high school and senior matric before moving to architectural studies and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of British Columbia in 1957. He leaves behind his loving wife Sharon, daughter Barbra (Dale) Currie and Karina, step-daughters Sandra (Darryl) Kutschinski, Cody, and Keanna, and Susan (Chris) Barnes, Evan, Jerad, and Logan. Joe spent over forty years in private architectural practice in Edmonton, AB, before returning to Kelowna together with wife Sharon in 1999. In recognition of his contributions to the architectural profession Joe was named a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada in 1978. In 1999 he was further honoured with Life Membership in the Alberta Association of Architects. By request, there will be no service. A private gathering of immediate family will take place at a future date.
