DOLINSKI, John – 87 of Kelowna, BC passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Care Centre Tuesday, January 4, 2011. Born in 1923 in Stuartburn, Manitoba, he was the son of the late Joseph and Antonia Dolinski. He enlisted in the Canadian Army Airborne as a paratrooper and also did tours as a cook with the Service Corps in Korea, the Congo and Germany. Upon retirement from the Army in 1970, he opened a successful canteen on the Kelowna community college campus preparing lunches for students. He was active in the Lions Club, the Kelowna Korean Veterans Association and he enjoyed cooking and having garage sales. He was predeceased by his brothers Mike, Frank and Casey and his sisters Helen and Jean, as well as his son Donald. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Alice (nee Belinsky) as well as daughters Joan Hudon and Linda (Richard) Dill. He was blessed with two beautiful grandchildren Sharon (Chris) Malcolm and Craig (Maryanne) Hudon and two great grandchildren Samantha and Cyrille Hudon. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, they may make tributes to the Interior Alzheimer Society, #211- 1889 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5V5. John’s family would like to extend gratitude to the extraordinary and loving care provided by the staff of Cottonwoods. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 10, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC with Chaplain Ron Watson of the Unit 50 Korean Veterans Association officiating.
