LAFACE, Kathleen (Kay)

July 16, 1917 - July 1, 2016.

It is with blessed and grateful hearts that we honour and celebrate the life of our amazing Mom, Nana, and Auntie — Kathleen (Kay) Laface.

After 98 years of life, Nana came full circle and passed away peacefully in Vernon, BC with the comfort and profound love of her family. Nana is now reunited with her husband and our Nono (Al Laface, 2008), who has been waiting for her arrival. They had a genuine love and respect for each other, sharing 69 years together.

Nana leaves an incredible legacy that is unique like none other. Her life was simple and extraordinary at the same time. Her family was her greatest accomplishment.

She loved and cherished Al and her four children — Jackie (Bob), Curly (Rosemary), Wayne (Joanne), and Janis. She was fiercely loyal and devoted to her family.

She was a LEGEND to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Nana was born in Vernon. She was raised with horses and was proud of her family’s horse racing heritage. She met Al in Vernon and married him soon after. Together they lived in in Kimberley, Rossland, and Vernon before settling in Kelowna the rest of their married life.

Nana was an outstanding athlete in her younger years. She excelled at any sport she tried. She loved softball and track and field. Sports were an important part of Nana’s life.

After raising her kids, Nana revisited this passion.

Nana was a WINNER in golf, curling, and bowling.

Over the years, she recorded 3 “hole-in-ones” on some of BC’s greatest golf courses. Nana golfed and bowled into her 90s. Nana shared her passion with her family. She instilled her competitive spirit and absolute love of sports in each of her kids and the generations that followed.

Nana had a tenacity about her that served her well through the years. Her “can do” attitude, uncomplicated acceptance of life, and quiet humility resonated through her whole family. She was progressive for her time, an incredible role model, always fair, loyal, and genuine. Nana’s absolute commitment to her family was unconditional and unwavering. Nana will forever be in our hearts.

“Your life was a blessing, your memory a treasure, you are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.”

Our family would like to express our appreciation and heartfelt thanks to the staff of GSS Heron Grove Cottage #2 for the wonderful care and love shown to our precious Nana
