TRODDEN BLORE – Lenora
1915 – 2010 After a brief illness, Mom passed away peacefully on October 1, 2010 in Kelowna, BC, at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her first husband Robert Trodden in 1995, and by her second husband William Blore in 2006. She is survived by her children: Larry Trodden (Berna), Jerry Troden (Bonnie), Janice Durand (Hank), Stan Trodden (Cathy), Carolyn Rasmussen (Roy), by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and by her sisters Laura Genyk of Winnipeg and Clarice Melsness of Edmonton. Mom was born at Preecefille, SK, February 7, 1915, and was the 8th of 10 children born to Norwegian-American pioneers Hilda and Martinus Olson who carved a farm out of the Saskatchewan wilderness at the beginning of the last century. After she was married, she spent many happy years raising her family in Flin Flon, Manitoba and Calgary, Alberta before retiring to Kelowna. She was a talented singer, and accomplished pianist, and her quilts were of exceptional artistic quality. She was very hospitable and loved to cook and entertain for large family gatherings. The Church was also a very important part of her life and for many years she was the pianist at the church where she attended. The Missionwood Retirement Resort was her home and she greatly appreciated the wonderful staff who worked there. She was blessed with excellent health up until the time of her death, and she continued to derive considerable enjoyment from reading, studying her bible, staying in touch with relatives and friends, and playing the piano. The family wishes to thank Dr. Whiting and the caring staff of the Central Okanagan Hospice House for their responsive and compassionate care during her illness. The funeral service was held on Tuesday, October 5th at 2:00 pm at Evangel Church, 3261 Gordon Drive, Kelowna, BC. Interment at Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.
