HORVAT, MARIA
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our dear Mother
and Nona, Maria (Mary) Horvat from heart disease at the age of 81 years.
“Nona” as she was known to those that met her was the consummate hostess.
She was an extraordinary cook who loved to cook and entertain for her family
and guests.
She loved to work in her yard which was evident by the beautiful flowers and vegetable garden she nurtured.
Although her health was declining and she was tired of the fight her loved ones were not ready to let her go.
She will forever be remembered by her beloved girls. Daughter Barbara (Mark) and granddaughters Melissa, Mataija and Megan. Daughter Gordana and grandson
Darcy (Trina). Son John (LesLeah) and grandchildren Thomas and Taylor. Son David (Jacqueline) and grandchildren Madison, Matthew and Ryan. Son Jerry
(Carla) and granddaughter Emily. Brother Frank (Maria) and family, Brother Joe (Milka) and famiily.
Sisters Anica and Milka and families of Slovenia. Family of her heart Jim and Esther Jasper.
Maria joins her parents Henrik and Emilia Stemberger, brothers Frank and Stanko Stemberger and nephew
Dennis Stemberger in Heaven. Please look after her for us. Rest peacefully Mom until we see you again.
Prayers will be recited at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, April 14, 2016 from Corpus Christi Catholic Parish, 750 Rutland Road N., Kelowna, BC. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am, Friday, April 15, 2016, also at Corpus
Christi Catholic Parish.
If desired a memorial donation to the Juvenile Diabetes Association may be made in Maria’s name.
