Warren Malcolm McLean

passed away peacefully with her family members beside her on April 26, 2008.  Mary is survived by her loving husband, David; her cherished daughter Lianna Southy and husband Robert as well as much beloved twin grandchildren, Alexander and Emily.  Mary will be missed deeply by her three sisters: Therese Whitters and husband Frank of St. Stephen New Brunswick and nephews Jamie, Peter and Timothy.  Kathleen Sercerchi and husband David of Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia; niece Karen and nephew Scott.  Eileen Fournier and husband Jim of St. Albert, Alberta; niece Suzanne and nephews Dan and Andy.  Many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law as well as aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews on the McLean family side will miss her love and support. Predeceased by her beloved son John at the age of five, her parents, Mary and Clement Dubee and brother Ronald in infancy. Mary was born at Head of Millstream, Kings County, New Brunswick.  The family moved to Sussex when she was three and she attended school there, graduating in 1954.  She graduated from Teacher’s College in Fredericton and later obtained a degree of Education from Simon Fraser University.  She taught in the North West Territories as well as in various parts of Canada from Truro N.S. to Vancouver.  She also had a highly successful career in Real Estate in Vancouver.  Mary was a positive influence on all who knew her.  She made and kept many dear friends over the years and was well known for her infectious enthusiasm and keen wit.  She has always been a leader and had a life-long quest for knowledge.  Her interests were many and varied but were always inclined towards helping people.  A constant in her life was her love of reading – a book or several always close at hand.  Mary loved people and her greatest delight was to gather friends and family together and introduce them to each other, provide a sumptuous repast and circulate in her loving manner.  We remember her smiling eyes and infectious laughter. Thanks to family, friends and neighbours, you gave your love and encouragement freely, especially when she needed you.  Special thanks to the staff of Interior Health and especially to her care givers who visited her daily over these many months.  Your kindness and laughter filled her with strength to face the day or night. Prayers will be held on Friday, May 2nd at 8:00 pm at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC.  Funeral Mass to be celebrated on Saturday, May 3rd at 11:00 am at Immaculate Conception Church, 839 Sutherland Avenue, Kelowna, BC.  Interment to follow in Sussex New Brunswick at a later date.  In lieu of flowers please donate to the ALS Society.   A gift in living memory of Mary will be made to “Holding Hands for Hospice” by Springfield Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
