Nora Jervis

Nora Jervis

Gone to join her greatest loves, God and husband Norman, Nora Patricia Jervis passed away on September 23, 2013

at the age of 87 years. Nora embraced each and every day and found contentment and comfort in her faith, family, and friends.

Nora’s passion for home and Church were the cornerstones of her life. Her generous and caring spirit lives on in those that hold her so dear: sons Michael and Paddy, daughter-in-law Janine, beloved granddaughters Caylene & Tia and her sister, Phil Fitzgerald.

Born in Dundalk, Ireland in 1926, Nora worked for a number of years in Dublin as an architectural assistant. Her Canadian adventure began when Nora met a young Canadian man who was on holidays in Ireland. Armed with little more than love and trust in her heart, Nora

emigrated to McBride, BC in 1963 where she married Norman Harry Jervis that same year. Within a short time, the Jervis family grew with the arrival of Paddy, and shortly thereafter, Michael. After eight years in McBride, Nora

and family settled in Kelowna where mom led an active life raising two boys as well as being a devoted member of the Immaculate Conception Parish. Later in life, Nora and Norman enjoyed being involved in their grandchildren’s lives. Mom was especially proud of  the fact that Tia and Caylene have pursued and excelled in Irish dancing.

Nora’s life abruptly changed in 1999 when Norman passed away after almost 37 years of marriage. Although his absence was deeply felt, Nora’s faith in God gave her comfort and strength. Always active and engaged in the world around her, Nora maintained her independence until 2012 when she moved to Sunpointe Village.

Her final months and days in Kelowna were happy ones. With son Michael, Nora enjoyed trips to the beach, dinners out or in, spirited debate, and a continued, loving friendship. She leaves us to mourn her passing while celebrating her return to the arms of those she loved with such dedication.

Prayers will be recited on Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 7:30 pm and a Mass will be held on Monday, September 30th at 10:30 am both at Immaculate Conception Parish, 839 Sutherland Ave., Kelowna, BC.

Per Nora’s wishes, and for those wishing to acknowledge her life, in lieu of flowers, please provide a donation towards offering for the celebration of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass for the deceased.
