January 11, 1930 - August 17, 2022
In loving memory ~
OLGA JECKEL (HANET) peacefully entered the gates of heaven on August 17, 2022 continuing her joyous labor at tending her flower & veggie garden to use her crops to cook for anyone that came around and made sure no one went hungry.
She was the first child to be born in Canada on January 11, 1930 at home in Black Mountain area. She was born into the middle of
her 7 siblings who have all predeceased her as well as her parents. She was also predeceased by her infant son, her daughter Marlene and Olga's husband Oscar. In mourning, she is survived by Ellen & Mike Wall, Elaine & Rick Buchi, Harvey Jeckel, grandchildren Charlene, Rhonda (Bill), Heather, Matt (Drennen), Deanna (Shaun), Sandor (Lindsey), Justin, Taylor, Brydon, Kristin (Cam) & Danielle (Brandon) as well as 18 great grandchildren & some great great grandchildren. What a legacy!
The last 10 years, Olga was a resident at Sun Pointe Village. She was known to be cheerful, a non- complainer, witty, had a great sense of humor and had a positive attitude for the situation she was enduring (no mobility). The family would like to thank ALL staff members for caring for our mother over the years. By request, no funeral will be held. In memorial, donations can be made to Heart & Stroke.
A Celebration of Life for Olga and Oscar will be held at Mission Creek Park (across from the new Costco), 2363 Springfield Road on May21, 2023 from 11:00am-4:00 pm.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared for the Jeckel family at www.valleyviewfuneralhome.com.
