Ronald George MacLaren

April 21, 1946 - August 11, 2022
It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Ronald George Maclaren from the loving arms of his wife Edmay, into the arms of his father Allan, mother Catherine, and elder brother David. A Sergeant in the RCMP, Ron served from 1966 to 1999 with postings in Humboldt, SK; Saskatoon, SK; Ottawa, ON; Vancouver, BC; and finally retiring in Kelowna, BC.
Ronald was always ready to help his country, community, and friends. A member of the Kiwanis Club of Saskatoon; he also cheered on his favourite Junior Hockey Team, the Kelowna Rockets; and he volunteered with several other organizations. He was especially proud to be a lifetime member of the Okanagan RCMP Veterans Association. He volunteered many hours to their various projects and always found time to visit veterans and to support their families through difficult times.
Ron was hopelessly devoted to Edmay, whom he drove crazy in elementary school, only to sweep her off her feet while she was in Nurse's Training. Together they raised two children, Michelle and Keith; loved four grandsons, Zachary, Daniel, Coen, and Simon. Ron's sister Betty; brother-in-law Ron; sister-in-law Beth; three nephews and three nieces; many cousins; and countless friends will have fond memories and great stories to share about Ron. While physically gone, he will live forever in our thoughts and in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you consider making a donation to a charity of your choice.
There will be a Memorial Service SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 10, 2022, at 4:00 PM, at SPRINGFIELD FUNERAL HOME, 2020 Springfield Road, Kelowna, BC, with Chaplain Bob Thompson officiating, with a reception to follow.
