ROSETTA Grace ODLUM

(1915 2008) Rose passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2008. Rose was born in London, England, growing up in Wembly. She worked as a WAAF during WW II packing parachutes for bomber crews. She met future husband Hal (RCAF on a Lancaster bomber) during this time. Demobbed in 1945, Hal returned to Vancouver. Rose boarded a ship on Christmas Day 1945 arriving in Halifax harbor on New Years Day, 1946. Hal had hitchhiked from Vancouver to meet her. Married in January they visited Kelowna several times over the next few years, riding on a 40s Harley Davidson motorcycle over a dirt road called the Trans Canada Highway. Rose and Hal moved to Kelowna in 1949 and they spent the rest of their lives here living in the sparsely populated Mission area. Rose was active in Little Theatre in the Fifties, and worked for many years in the Guild of St. Andrews Church. Hal passed away in 1985. She is survived by two sons, Rod (Gail) of Kelowna and Kerry (Karyn) of Toronto, grandchildren Trevor (Stephanie), Graham, Katherine and Gillian. All will miss her. A private family service has been held with interment in St. Andrews cemetery in Kelowna.
