Sheila Mary Tenney


1929 – 2012

Passed away peacefully on

July 20, 2012 in Kelowna, BC,

at the age of 83. Sheila was born to Lillian and Louis Moss in Leeds, England. After the war

she moved with her family to

Jamaica and in 1948 she

emigrated to Pavilion, BC,

where she met and married James Tofin in 1952. They had one child, Louise, who survives her.  Widowed in 1964, Sheila

subsequently married Nathaniel Tenney, Jr, with whom she spent many happy years at

Pavilion Lake and Kelowna until his death in 2001. Sheila was an accomplished artist, a member of the Kelowna

Water Colour Guild, and her many oil and watercolor works have been shown at numerous galleries and shows. Sheila was warm and gracious with everyone she met, a

humanitarian in her support of numerous adopted children through World Vision, and a regular contributor to The

Salvation Army, Amnesty International, the Kelowna Food Bank, the Leprosy Mission, the Dogwood Initiative, the

Arthritis Society and St. Aidan’s Anglican Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A Celebration of Sheila’s life will be held at First Memorial Funeral

Services,1211 Sutherland Ave in Kelowna on Saturday, July 28th, 2012, at 11:00AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has

requested that remembrances be made to the Dogwood Initiative@ or charity of choice.
