SUSAN Jane WYLIE

SUSAN Jane WYLIE

passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2008 at the age of 59.  Survived by her loving family, daughter Kathryn Wylie of Kelowna, grandchild Joyce Chambers, father Hugh Rider, sister Karen (Ed) Jansen of Abbotsford and numerous nieces and nephews.  Sadly predeceased by her mother Lois and son Billy.  Sue grew up and attended school in West Vancouver before settling on Kelowna’s Westside where she was blessed with her daughter Kathy and son Bill.  She was a devoted and involved mom and was an avid supporter of local hockey and baseball stemming from her son Bill’s natural ability in both sports.  She was also a loving, enthusiastic and doting grandmother to Kathy’s daughter Joyce.  Sue was generous, kind, and devoted to her family; her career at Jacobsen’s Pontiac Buick, where she was a longtime loyal and valued member of their “family” for over 36 years; and her garden, where she had a unique talent for tropical and hothouse plants.  If you telephoned her at home and asked, “Can you talk or are you watering?”, she would answer, “I’m always watering, TALK!”  Sue’s Mom and Dad, Lois and Hugh Rider joined her on the Westside in the late 1990’s.  Sue was the kind of daughter who loved her parents deeply and fiercely.  She was always there to help and put the welfare of her family first.  She was a loving sister to Karen and her family.  She was one classy lady!  Sue has a strong network of friends from every facet of her life as evidenced by the non-stop parade of devoted friends, family and puppies who spent her last days with her at the Douglas Fir Hospice.  She had a gift with dogs and a special love for her dog Misty and puppy Meeko who will miss her very much.  In the last few years Sue has enjoyed travelling to and attending Clay Aiken concerts and has made special friends in the process.  Sue was stoic in the face of deep loss, strong in spirit in the company of family and friends as well generous and kind with all whom she loved.  She will be greatly missed.  Sue’s family would like to thank the incredible staff at the Douglas Fir Hospice for the wonderful care they took of our beautiful Sue!.  Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 3, 2008 at 3:00 pm at Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road.  Interment to follow in Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Central Okanagan Hospice Association, #202-1456 St. Paul Street, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 2E6 or the Cancer Centre for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Avenue, Kelowna, BC, V1Y 5L3.  A gift in living memory of Sue will be made to “Hospice Care” by Springfield Funeral Home.  Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.springfieldfuneralhome.com, 250-860-7077.
