It is with great sadness that the family of Valeria Topp (nee Leis) say their goodbyes to their beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She passed away at Mountainview Village in Kelowna, BC on Monday, December 11, 2017 at the age of 93 years.
Valeria was predeceased by her husband, Lynwood (2002), her son, Larry Lee (2003) and her great-granddaughter, Kya (2014).
Valeria was born on June 25, 1924 in Elrose, SK. She spent her life farming alongside her husband, Lynwood, in the Plato District until 1980 when they retired and moved to Saskatoon. They spend 25 years wintering in Las Vegas. They moved from Saskatoon to Lethbridge in 1993, and upon Lynwood's passing, she moved to Kelowna to be closer to her late son, Larry Lee and daughter, Karen.
Valeria enjoyed working in her garden on the farm and has passed along to her family many of her needlepoint pieces and miniature dollhouses that she had worked on with her husband. She never turned down an opportunity to dress up and go shopping, to lunch with friends, for a walk or a drive and was always on the go.
Despite many challenges she met over the years, she was always positive and fully embraced life. Her grandchildren were very important to her.
Valeria will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Karen (Klaus) Naumann of Kelowna; four grandchildren: Marilee (Kelly) Fehr, Michael (Amanda) Topp, Kyle (Courtney) Naumann and Kimberly (Kevin) Fukushima; along with eight great-grandchildren.
She also leaves her daughter-in-law Honya Olsen of Saskatoon, her sister-in-law June Hood of Lethbridge, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A family gathering is planned for late spring in Plato, Saskatchewan where she will rest in peace alongside Lynwood and her son Larry Lee around the buffalo rubbing stone on the old homestead.
