WILFRID Norman (Bill). It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Bill Plumb on February 23, 2008 at the age of 92. He is survived by his devoted wife Barbara of 47 years, daughter Sharon (Howard) Hamilton of Regina and their sons Richard, Billy and Arthur, daughter Linda (Jonathan) Reimer of West Vancouver and their children Jazmyn & Braxton, and his sister Barbara Kloeble of Burnaby. Bill was born in North Battleford, SK, on September 29, 1915. He served with the First Canadian Armed Brigade Signals in England, Sicily, Italy and Holland from 1940 to 1945 and received the British Empire Medal for meritorious service. In 1950 he graduated from UBC as a Geological Engineer. His fascination with the natural world flowed through his career in mining and exploration in BC, the Yukon and Saskatchewan, including his favourite post as Chief Geologist for Cassiar Asbestos Corporation. He finished his career as Information Officer at the BC & Yukon Chamber of Mines in Vancouver. During retirement in Kelowna he taught prospecting courses and continued his lifelong quest for learning. He was loyal to his profession, his family, and his ideals, and inspired all who knew him with his optimism and determination to enjoy life to the fullest. Bill will be greatly missed. The family is grateful to the caring staff at Cottonwoods Extended Care Centre in Kelowna. Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 29, 2008 at 10:00 am at the Chapel of Springfield Funeral Home, 2020 Springfield Road.
