Re: Ex-MLA Stewart Awarded Asia Trade Post, Oct. 29 Capital News.
Now we know why Ben stepped down, it wasn’t because he wanted to be a nice guy and let Christy [Premier Clark] take his seat. It was to get something big in return and here it is.
Being named the new investment and trade commissioner for Asia. What a gig this is. Free trips to schmooze the Koreans, Japanese and Chinese into doing business with B.C.
No doubt he will also promote his own winery while he’s there, after all he was over there promoting the B.C. wine industry. With roughly the same pay he used to get, nice.
Then the article goes on to state that Christy will be going on her own mission to Asia in November. Hopefully they travel together to save the taxpayer some cash.
She says she is following similar tours by Forestry Minister Steve Thomson and Natural gas Development Minister Rich Coleman. Why didn’t she go with them and save us some cash? Seems like a waste of cash to me, but then I’m just a simple taxpayer for the government to fleece.
Maybe there were, or will be, some side trips taken that are to be on the QT. Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.
Travel together and save us some cash folks.
