To the editor:
Pity the poor civic government employees, for they will never please all. Every time they come up with an idea somebody blasts them.
I have often looked at that horseshoe shaped parking lot at the foot of Queensway and thought something needs to be done here.
This would be a great spot for a visitor centre with all the foot traffic, and a rerouting of the waterfront walkway to follow the shoreline.
Remember the population still alive who knew a world without screens is still significant. Some will change, some will not and they will seek out a source of local knowledge.
For example, many lament voice menus on the phone and would prefer a live person. There is a continuing shift to self-serve and, although often convenient, there is the attendant loss of human contact.
Also, I think the need will carry on for those of any age who want a choice to live life through the eyes of each other instead of staring robotically at shallow screens for every question.
