Letter: We’re ‘screwed’ if trail is put ahead of drinkable water

If our present (Lake Country) council places walking/cycling trails ahead of our water needs, then we are screwed.

To the editor:

Priorities not straight: I believe the District of Lake Country should not spend one taxpayer dollar on the proposed cycle-rail line project.

If the mayor wants to continue with the master water plan, then all available funds should be in the pursuit of clean, abundant drinkable water. There should be no such thing as a boil water advisory, and all properties that border our lakes and streams should have mandatory sewer.

If our present council places walking/cycling trails ahead of our water needs, then we are screwed.

I guess one could sell bottled water in a kiosk on the old tracks by Wood Lake.

Eventually, sure as hell, we won’t be able to drink the local water.

Winfield
