Letter: Who's at fault depends on rules of the road

It bothers me when articles imply that the driver is at fault, especially when the at-fault person is riding a bicycle

To the editor:

I am responding to the article regarding the collision between an SUV and an electric scooter at KLO and Benvoulin Road.

I use this intersection every day.

If the driver was eastbound on KLO turning left onto Benvoulin heading north, then the person on the scooter was illegally crossing the intersection.

The crosswalk light operates only when the traffic lights are green for the westbound traffic on KLO otherwise the WAIT signal is alight.

It bothers me when articles imply that the driver is at fault, especially when the at-fault person is riding a bicycle or some other mode of powered transport and is not obeying the rules of the road.
