Letter: Wolves thrive on ‘low-grade’ caribou

Saving caribou habitat some kind of "armchair environmentalist's idea of a sick joke."

To the editor:

Re: The wolf kill

Of course, we should preserve, even enhance, caribou habitat. We can’t expect those nice, cuddly wolves that no one else wants in their area to propagate and destroy the remaining herds of low-grade caribou meat that the present habitat presents, that which wolves thrive on, can we?

Don’t these wolves deserve a higher quality of caribou meat than what they have to eat?

Isn’t “Save caribou habitat, don’t kill wolves” headline in a recent edition of the Capital News (Jan. 30) just some armchair environmentalist’s idea of a sick joke?
