Re: Centre of Gravity Not a Source Of Kelowna Mounties’ Frustration, Aug. 7 Capital news web site.
Regarding the Center of Gravity (formally Wake-fest, which had been canceled due to violence in the past) event in Kelowna this past long weekend.
My son, along with his friends, attend and have had an enjoyable time in the past couple of years. The media has reported it as a great success without any incidents.
So, what happened?
My son and his friend (Liam and Jesse) were walking back to there hotel room late Sunday night when they were assaulted by a group of six males.
Bystanders called 911. An ambulance arrived and both were hospitalized with serious facial injuries.
While in the hospital my son spoke with three other persons who were also hospitalized with similar injuries and assaulted in a similar way. Out-numbered and surprised by the same group.
According to my son, the police were in the area but did not purse the assailants. The group just walked away.
We have sent emails to the RCMP in Kelowna. No replies received.
I think the police did not do due diligence in protecting the attendees, and now seem to be hiding the info.
I would also like to voice my concern and shock.
I am the mother of Jesse who is currently still waiting for surgery on his face. He has multiple fractures and needs plates put in his face.
Jesse and Liam were attacked for no reason.
We have not heard back from the RCMP, not even a call to say that they are proceeding with an investigation.
Maybe if it was in the news, maybe someone would come forward and call Crime Stoppers.
