BCHL PLAYOFFS: Vees strike first

Penticton leads best of seven series 1-0 after 3-1 win.

Two second period goals were enough for the Penticton Vees to draw first blood in the BC Hockey League second round playoff series between the Vees and the Westside Warriors.

Alex Szczechura and Denver Manderson scored for Penticton before Alex Grieve got the Warriors within a goal with a late second period marker.

But that was all Vees goalie Sean Bonar would allow and Beau Bennett added the insurance marker in the third period to make the final 3-1.

Game two goes tonight in Penticton while games three and four are in Westside on Friday and Saturday nights.
