Canucks legend Kirk McLean visits market, hall of fame in Penticton

The former goaltender is in town this week as the Canucks gear up for training camp

The stars are out this week in Penticton as the Vancouver Canucks bring training camp to the city for the first time in 14 years.

Among those include Kirk McLean, the goaltender who backstopped the Canucks to a Stanley Cup Finals appearance in 1994.

McLean visited the BC Hockey Hall of Fame last weekend in Penticton, which is located inside the South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC). He took a photo of himself in front of his own display at the museum that honours his more than 10 seasons with the Canucks from 1987 to 1998.

The Toronto-born netminder — inducted into the museum in 2014 — was also seen at the Penticton Farmers' Market on Saturday, Sept. 14. McLean posted a photo of him and the Canucks' mascot Fin, at the market on Main Street.

McLean's fun in Penticton didn't stop there, as he and a few of the Canucks' top prospects took part in the annual Young Stars Minor Hockey Session.

"Hello Penticton, hockey is back!" he wrote on Facebook.

Vancouver's NHL roster hit the SOEC on Thursday, Sept. 19, for the start of training camp.

The event wraps up with a team scrimmage on Sunday.
