A second trip to the West Coast League championship in three seasons wasn’t to be for the Kelowna Falcons.

The Victoria Harbourcats ended the Falcons’ 2017 campaign Wednesday night at Elks Stadium with an 11-5 victory.

The ‘Cats won the best-of-three North Division final playoff series 2-0 and now advance to the WCL final.

Victoria jumped on Kelowna starter Andrew Alvarez for eight earned runs in just 4 1/3 innings on the way to building up an insurmountable 9-2 lead.

The Falcons, who didn’t know until Monday night who their playoff opponent would be, made the long trip to Victoria on Tuesday for Game 1 of the series and lost 8-2.

Kelowna clinched a playoff spot in July after winning the North Division’s first half title with a 17-10 record.

The Falcons went 11-16 in the second half of the season.

The Falcons were under the guidance of field manager Bryan Donohue for the second straight season.
