When it comes to being physically fit, few can compare to Brent Fikowski.

The 26-year-old Kelowna athlete’s fitness was on display last weekend in Madison, Wisconsin where he turned in a silver-medal showing at the Reebox 2017 CrossFit Games.

Representing Canada, the 6-foot-2, 215-pound Fikowski competed in 13 events over four days and finished second only to American Matthew Fraser.

The range of events included running, swimming, rope climbs, weights, an obstacle course, cyclocross, sandbags and haybales.

“I had so much fun in Madison and would have cherished the experience regardless of the scoreboard which is always my goal,” Fikowski wrote on his Instagram account. “Getting to hop on that podium and bring home a silver medal definitely made the trip that much more memorable though.

“It’s humbling to see the progress I’ve made these last few years, I wouldn’t have believed any of this was possible when I entered CrossFit BroadBeach in Australia in 2012.”

Fikowksi, who finished fourth last year at the 2016 CrossFit Games, trains at Kelowna CrossFit.
