Kelowna wins 11th straight WHL game at Prospera Place with victory over Swift Current Wednesday

There’s no place like home for the Kelowna Rockets.

The Rockets made it 11 straight wins at Prospera Place Wednesday night with a 6-5 Western Hockey League victory over the visiting Swift Current Broncos.

Cody Fowlie’s goal with 4:37 remaining in the third period proved to be the winner as Kelowna overcame a 3-1 second-period deficit.

Fowlie had a goal and two assists as the Rockets rallied for four goals in the final frame.

Zach Franko, Madison Bowey, Dylan McKinlay, JT Barnett and Ryan Olsen also scored for the Rockets (18-9-1-1) who haven’t lost at home since Oct. 10.

It’s the Rockets longest home winning streak since a run of 11 games from Nov. 9, 2005 to Jan. 7, 2006.

Captain Adam Lowry, the game’s first star, paced the Broncos with three goals, including one a penalty shot marker in the second period.

Jordon Cooke stopped 14 shots in the Kelowna net, while Broncos’ netminder Eetu Laurikainen made 17 saves.

The Rockets were without Colton Sissons for the second straight game as the Kelowna captain continues to nurse an upper body injury.

The Rockets close out their pre-Christmas home ice schedule on Saturday against Prince George, before heading out on a five-game eastern road trip, beginning Tuesday, Dec. 11 in Cranbrook against the Kootenay Ice.
