The Kelowna tier 1 Rockets won the Pee Wee Classic Tournament in Saskatchewan.

A trip to the Prairies last week came with a substantial reward for the Kelowna peewee tier 1 Rockets.

Coached by Grant Sheridan, the Rockets captured the gold medal at the Pee Wee Classic Hockey Tournament in Regina.

In the final of the 32-team event on Sunday, Kelowna defeated the Martensville Marauders 5-2.

The Rockets posted a 2-1 record in the round robin, defeating Regina 6-1 and Sherwood Park 7-3, and losing 4-2 to Humboldt.

After beating the Calgary Bow River Bruins 9-2 in the quarterfinals, Kelowna then won the semifinal 3-2 over the Winnipeg East Railcats, who had only prior losses this season.

The Rockets will now gear up for the Okanagan Mainline playoffs against Kamloops, with a berth to provincials in Nanaimo on the line.
