Kelowna's tier 2 team, short on players, holds own with team from California

The Kelowna midget tier 2 Rockets were a little short-staffed as they played host to an international opponent in exhibition hockey action on Sunday at Rutland Arena.

With several players away with their families for the holidays, Kelowna had just 11 skaters in the lineup against a rep team from California.

Head coach Devon Sandvold said his team played well under the circumstances and held its own.

The game was tied 1-1 until the late stages of the third period when the California team scored twice for a 3-1 win.
