Good times for local school as boys win it all for first time in 34 years

The Okanagan Mission Huskies is celebrating the school’s first valley soccer title in 34 years.

The Huskies defeated the defending provincial champions from Sa-Hali 5-1 in the Okanagan AA boys final on Saturday in Kamloops.

The Huskies, who last won the title in 1977,  Westsyde 2-0, Kalamalka 8-0 and Summerland 5-0 in their other games at valleys.

OKM will represent at the Okanagan at provincials Nov. 21 to 23 in Burnaby.

The Huskies are: David Denton Protsac, Bennett MacDonald, Mackenzie Rigg, Quinton Torreson, Robin Whitteker, Andrew Stevenson, Alex Beutle, Alex Norman, Joe Overton, Walker Shanks, Dylan Wagner, Jordan Powers, Riley Ledwon, Jacob Rivet, Ryan Rancier, Trevor Swaisland, Dan Perry, Jordon Hesketh, Matt Fielding, and Braden Peters.

The coach is Tony Overton and the manager is Keith Shanks.

Provincial A soccer

The Kelowna Christian Knights finished in seventh overall at the B.C. A boys soccer championship last weekend at St. Ann’s Academy in Kamloops.

KCS defeated Unity Christian in overtime in its final game.

The Immaculata Mustangs placed 10th.
