Senior point guard Mitch Goodwin scored 31 points as the Kelowna Owls dispatched of the St. Francis Browns from Calgary 86-47 in opening night action Thursday at the Interior Savings Western Canada Basketball Tournament.
KSS dominated from the opening whistle, leading 20-14 after the first quarter, 46-25 at half time and 72-34 after 30 minutes.
Goodwin hit on 7-of-11 field goals and was 4-for-6 from the three-point zone.
Owls’ post Braxston Bunce added 11 points, and John Katerburg scored eight, as Kelowna head coach Harry Parmar was able to use his entire bench with the game well in hand.
Friday at 8:15 p.m. KSS will battle the the Pitt Meadows Marauders in championship semifinal action.
The other semifinal at 6 p.m. features Edmonton Harry Ainlay and White Rock Christian.
In other opening day action, Harry Ainlay defeated Tamanawis 78-58, Pitt Meadows upended Regina Balfour 69-49, and White Rock Christian beat Kitsilano 74-70.
The championship final will be played Saturday night at 7:45 p.m.
