Rockets add to home-ice winning streak

Kelowna marks captain's return to the lineup with victory over Everett Sunday in WHL action, the Rockets' 14th straight win at Prospera

Winning at home has become a habit for the Kelowna Rockets.

Myles Bell scored twice and captain Colton Sissons marked his return to the lineup with his 11th goal of the season, as the Rockets downed the Everett Silvertips 5-1 Sunday night for their 14th straight victory at Prospera Place.

It’s Kelowna’s longest home-ice win streak since the WHL club won 18 games in a row during the 2002-03 season.

Sissons, who scored in the third period on a set-up from MacKenzie Johnston, missed his team’s last 10 games with an upper body injury.

Cole Linaker, with his first Western Hockey League goal, and Dylen McKinlay also scored for the Rockets who have won nine of their last 10 games and all three since returning from the Christmas break.

McKinlay’s marker came on a breakaway with Kelowna playing shorthended in the second period.

Goaltender Jordon Cooke, returning to the lineup after missing five games with a foot injury, stopped 18 shots in the Rockets net.

With the win, Kelowna (26-10-1-1) moves to within two points of Kamloops for the B.C. Division lead.

The Rockets return to action Wednesday when they host the Victoria Royals.
