Rockets Foote and Lind potential 1st rounders

Kelowna players eyed by NHL Central Scouting as top picks later this year

Rockets players Cal Foote and Kole Lind are on the radar of Central Scouting as potential first round picks.

Two Kelowna Rockets players have been listed in the top 30 North American skaters by NHL Central Scouting.

Cal Foote ranks 12th on the NHLCS list while Kole Lind ranks 21st.

Foote has had a strong season. So far he’s posted 4 goals accompanied by 30 assists amassing to 34 points in 45 games played.

Lind is having a breakout year. He currently leads the Rockets in points and has played his way up the rankings. So far this season Lind has 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points in 44 games played.

The Western Hockey League also announced that 58 WHL players (including Foote and Lind) have been listed by NHL Central Scouting in its midterm rankings in advance of the 2017 NHL Draft, scheduled for June 23 to 24 in Chicago.

Heading the list is Nolan Patrick (Winnipeg, MB / Brandon Wheat Kings), ranked first among North American skaters. Michael Rasmussen (sixth – Tri-City Americans), Cody Glass (eighth – Portland Winterhawks) and Jusso Valimaki (ninth – Tri-City Americans) join Patrick in representing the WHL amongst the top 10 North American skaters.

A total of 12 WHL skaters land in the top 31, including Cal Foote (12th – Kelowna Rockets), Kailer Yamamoto (17th – Spokane Chiefs), Nikita Popugaev (18th – Prince George Cougars), Kole Lind (21st – Kelowna Rockets), Henri Jokiharju (22nd – Portland Winterhawks), Stelio Mattheos (23rd – Brandon Wheat Kings), Nick Henry (25th – Regina Pats) and Jake Leschyshyn (31st – Regina Pats).
