Rockets go 4-and-1 on Alberta trip after 6-2 loss in Calgary

Team breaks for Christmas after stellar road trip and solid first half of the season

The Calgary Hitmen defeated the Kelowna Rockets 6-2 on Sunday afternoon in Calgary, snapping the Rockets six game winning streak.

After a scoreless first period, the Hitmen scored three second period markers to take a stranglehold on the game with the Rockets playing its fifth game in six nights.

Jesse Lees and Madison Bowey scored for Kelowna, who was forced to use 15-year-old draft pick Jake Morrissey in the third period, after an injury to starter Jackson Whistle.

With Jordon Cooke a scratch and Whistle injured in the second period, Morrissey made his WHL debut and faced 10 shots in the third period.

Brooks Macek scored twice for Calgary while Cody Sylvester had a goal and an assist.

The Rockets won five of six games on the Alberta road trip and improved to 23-10-1-1 at the WHL Christmas break.

The club returns to action Dec. 27 as it hosts the Kamloops Blazers and also plays at home Dec. 30 to Everett.

The Rockets have won 12 straight games at Prospera Place.
