Rockets sweep weekend set in Prince George

Newly-named captain Madison Bowey had three assists Friday and the game winner Saturday in WHL action as Kelowna takes two from B.C. rivals

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the hometown Prince George Cougars 4-1 on Saturday night in Prince George, sweeping the weekend double-header.

The Rockets scored twice late in the third period to break open a tight game with Jackson Whistle earning the win in net.

Newly-anointed captain Madison Bowey and Ryan Olsen staked Kelowna to a 2-1 lead after two periods before Kris Schmidli and Zach Franko, into an empty net, cemented the win for Kelowna in the third period.

The Rockets improved to 11-2-0-2 on the season.

On Friday night in Prince George the Rockets earned a 7-6 shootout victory.

The Rockets return to Prospera Place on Wednesday when they kick off a four-game home stand by hosting the Red Deer Rebels (7 p.m.)
