Rockets win third straight

Kelowna needs shootout to defeat the Spokane Chiefs Wednesday night in WHL action

The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Spokane Chiefs 3-2 in a shootout Wednesday night in Spokane, winning their third straight Western Hockey League game.

Myles Bell, with the game-winner, and Jesse Lees scored for the Rockets in the shootout, while goalie Jordon Cooke put in a stellar performance in the win. Cooke allowed just a single goal in the shootout and stopped 41 of 43 shots in the game.

The Chiefs held a 1-0 lead after the first period and led 2-1 early in the third before Zach Franko tied the game for the Rockets with a third period marker, his 13th of the season. Carter Rigby also scored for Kelowna, his 20th goal of the season.

Dominik Uher scored both goals for the Chiefs.

The Rockets now return home for a pair of games this weekend. Kelowna will host the Victoria Royals on Friday night followed by the Prince George Cougars on Saturday at Prospera Place.
