The Okanagan College Coyotes showed they had short memories on the weekend, forgetting about a poor outing on Saturday and bouncing back with a big win on Sunday as the Canadian Colleges Baseball Conference season got underway with a series of games at Elks Stadium in Kelowna.

The Coyotes finished the weekend with a 3-1 record after hammering Thompson Rivers University 11-1 on Sunday.

Starting pitcher Garrett Wiesse went the distance to earn the win while the Coyotes offense exploded for a seven run third-inning to rout the Wolfpack.

David Mabon and Greg Adams each had a pair of runs batted in while Aidan Mcvea, Jeff Bouchard and Brian Elias also drove in runs. Elias was on base four times and scored twice.

It was the second win of the weekend by the Coyotes over the Kamloops-based TRU Wolfpack. On Saturday Kiefer Rodway earned the win in a pitcher’s duel that ended with OC on top 1-0.

Kelowna split a pair of games with Calgary, winning 7-4 and losing by the same 7-4 score.

At the end of the first CCBC weekend of 2012 the Coyotes are, 3-1, TRU 2-2, and U of Calgary 1-3.  In the other games PBA (Lethbridge) took three of four games from Vancouver Island U in Nanaimo.

The Coyotes were back in action Wednesday night with a double header against TRU in Kamloops, and another pair of games in Kamloops on the weekend.

OC’s next home games are April 6 to 8 hosting as they host U of Calgary.
