Sunshine and cars expected on drag strip

Sunshine, cars and a good time are expected Sunday at the Richter Pass Motorplex.

The Wine Country Racing Association (WCRA) is promising that and a full slate of cars hitting the drag strip.

WCRA is all set to host their second drag racing event of the season at Richter Pass Motorplex. Five weekends per year the club transforms the Osoyoos airport into an 1/8 mile drag strip. The day features side-by-side bracket racing action, with vehicles from dad’s everyday driver to full out dragsters.

The weekend starts out early with the Cactus Jalopies’ annual event. They sponsor many events for the gorgeous cars coming from far and wide, including a super-sized show and shine on Saturday, at Gyro Beach. The fun culminates on June 4 on the track. Gates open at 9 a.m. Racing action begins at 11 a.m. The final elimination round begins at 1 p.m. Admission for over-12 is $5. Concessions available on site.
