The Kelowna Rockets defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 in a shootout on Tuesday night in Kent, Washington, extending their WHL winning streak to nine games and improving to 16-2-0-2 on the season.
Kelowna is right back in action at home on Wednesday night as the team travels back to host Victoria at Prospera Place on Wednesday.
In Seattle, Jackson Whistle earned the win in net for the Rockets, stopping three straight Seattle shooters before Tyson Baillie won the game with the final shot of the shootout.
The goalies were peppered with shots as Kelowna’s Jackson Whistle and Seattle’s Danny Mumaugh both played well. The Rockets outshot Seattle 50-46.
Damon Severson, Ryan Olsen and Madison Bowey scored in regulation for the Rockets. In the shootout, Justin Kirkland and Damon Severson also scored, with both goals extending the shootout, before Baillie’s winner.
Wednesday night’s game against Victoria is a B.C. Division rivalry game against the Royals, who also played on Tuesday beating the Blazers 2-1 in Kamloops.
